Coaches matter. They are the single most important component of a youth sports program. They have the biggest impact on the participants, and that impact can be felt for years or even a life-time, so it is important to have coaches committed to making that impact positive. GWHYB uses nationally recognized Doyle Baseball Academy to train our coaches their baseball skills, and Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) tools to train our coaches to have that lifelong positive impact.
To be a coach you must complete your coaches application form. You must also submit a completely filled out background check form. Lastly you must complete a coach's certification training.
You can download your coaches application and background check forms by clicking these links or going to our Documents page. Fill them out and you can eithermail the completed forms to our PO Box or scan them and email the completed forms to us.
Please submit your forms as early. We plan spring coaching in December and fall coaching in August.
Our rules require all coaches to be certified annually. The board has determined the best quality training in our area is available through The Doyle Academy. We will hold in-person coaches clinics before each season. Check the calendar for specific dates.
All coaches should become familiar with the PCA toolkits for being a positive coach. The ELM Tree of Mastery, the Emotional Tank, and Honoring the Game.
